Apply for the foundation courses at Burnt Sienna Art School Berlin

We welcome applications from people from all walks of life. Whether you have never picked up a paint brush before or are taking a sabbatical from your working life to pursue a career in painting. You might have even taken a Masters of Art and never learnt the basic principles of drawing or painting. The latter is very common since nower days art schools do not teach the fundamentals of painting or drawing.

Beginners are especially welcome since the course is geared towards those wanting to gain the basic traditional studio skills required to carry out oil painting or drawing.

What we teach and how we teach it cannot be found anywhere else in Berlin. we pride ourselves on small classes 4-6 students and dedicated one on one tutorials and demonstrations.

With Academic levels of teaching, knowledge and studio practice we offer our students the space, time and breadth of knowledge to aquire and develop traditional skills in oil painting and drawing. Our tutors are trained to Masters level of Fine Art or the equivalent and undergo rigorous training in order to deliver the foundation courses to the highest standards.

We invite applicants to the studio for an informal interview this way we can see where you are creatively and whether your ambitions match our course criteria and visa versa. This is incredibly important for us since we expect our students to develop and take as much as possible from the foundation courses.

We conduct these meetings furthermore for you to get familiar with the studio, ask any questions you might have about the courses, for you to see previous works of students and for you to get a feel for the studio. We can at this time assess your reliability to attend class.  We ask you to be settled in Berlin at least 3 months ( or have a good set up in place that creates stability) and have good work boundaries with your employer.

If you do have any sketchbooks, journals, paintings etc feel free to bring those along, although not essential it is great for us to know your artistic practice a little before you join a class and discuss what could be developed based on existing work.

We look forward to reading your application.
